ORANGE COUNTY FIREMEN’S ASSOCIATION

Open: The Orange County Firemen’s Association met March 5, 2007 at Baptist Hospital Orange Cafeteria, hosted by the Acadian Ambulance Service.  The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm by Vice-President James Fissette. Invocation was given by Tammi Fisette.  The Pledge of Allegiance was led by David Roberts.  No Visitors present.

Approval of Minutes:  Barbara Aldridge moved to accept minutes from January meeting.  Randy Anding 2nd the motion. Motion carried.

Financial Report: Elgin Browning gave the Financial Report.  The General Account as of 1/31/2007 had a total of $3453.53.  Motion was made by David Roberts to accept the Financial Report. Motion 2nd by Barbara Aldridge.  Motion carried.

Committee Reports: Discussed changes in the Bylaws for The Association.  Barbara Aldridge stated the ESD#1 had several concerns with the revised draft copy sent out by President Ziller.  Members need to submit suggestions or changes by email to Barbara or Jerry Ziller.

Old Business:  None.

New Business: 

1.  Barbara Aldridge discussed pending bills in Austin.

Rep. Hamilton has submitted bill calling for elections of Fire Commissioners.

2.  Other bill offers protection to volunteers who may be late to work because of a call.

3.  Persons over Combination or Paid firefighters must be certified to command.

4.  Loan program is available for home purchases by fire and ESM personnel.

5.  Priority care is withdrawing form the ESD#1 area.  ESD#1 will be seeking proposals.

6.  All departments and individual members who wish to receive email, updates, etc need to provide email address to Secretary Browning.  Send request to chief1@ocesd3.org

This site has meeting information, school notices, department training schedules, etc.  Any department is welcome to post events onto the calendar.  Send information to Elgin.

Elgin Browning said there would be an Officer Development Class has moved to April 21, 2007 at Little Cypress Fire Station from 8a-4p. Class will be free and lunch will be provided.
